POSITION: Radiation Therapy Assistant (Student)
LOCATION: Mack Road (2960 Mack Road Fairfield, OH 45014)
WEEKLY HOURS: PRN as needed
OHC – Specialists in Cancer and Blood disorders, is seeking a radiation therapy student to work at our Fairfield Radiation location as an assistant on a PRN basis. As the only independent adult cancer program in the region, we offer Medical, Radiation, Blood and Marrow Transplant, Gynecologic, and Breast Surgical Oncology services. OHC supports a robust cancer research and clinical trials program, neuro-oncology, cancer genetics specialists and supportive care program.
Under direct supervision of a Radiation Therapist, assists with care of patients undergoing radiation therapy. Prepares custom blocking devises, processes X-Rays and maintains QA requirements for film processing. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Accurately manufactures cerrobend blocks including proper labeling for patient and orientations.
-Under direct supervision, assists in the set up of accurate radiation therapy treatments and simulations including assisting with patient transfers, set-up and changing custom blocks.
-Assists with maintaining QA standards for processes by conducting regularly scheduled diagnostic equipment checks.
-May be responsible for daily x-ray film processing.
-Assists with front office duties including film acquisition and inventory, answering phones, and filing and purging medical records.
-Performs courier services to transfer patient information between treatment sites.
-Assists with the manufacture of custom patient molds/treatment devices in the simulator and/or treatment room.
-Assists in maintaining accurate x-ray film, contrast and medical supply inventories.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent and minimum one year medical/healthcare experience required. Prior experience with radiation therapy principles and block fabrication preferred, but not required.
