POSITION TITLE:

VMF Radio Dispatcher

SALARY RANGE:

$24 to 25.75/hr.

CONTRACT LENGTH:

190 Days

8 hours per day; work hours may vary

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:

Operations Supervisor; Receives guidance from Director of Transportation

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assists Dispatcher/Trip Coordinator in setting up a daily itinerary for all athletic activities and extra-curricular trips. Maintains radio contact with all school bus drivers. Responds to queries from school bus drivers. Answers calls. Maintains radio communications in accordance with FCC regulations. Assists with safety issues and road closures.

DUTIES:

Provide clear, concise guidance to school bus drivers. Quickly determine the needs of the customer and provide an appropriate response. Maintain a log of radio and telephonic contacts. Provide proper responses in both normal and emergencies. Drive a school bus if the situation warrants. Other duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School graduate or equivalent. Six (6) months of clerical experience or related training preferred. Experience working with data base or P.C. Ability and aptitude to train on a computer. Ability to communicate with transportation staff, school principals, lead drivers, corporation and contract drivers, as well as parents. Previous experience using routing software preferred. Familiarity with SBCSC and city preferred. Must have a CDL within 6 months of accepting the job. Bilingual or multilingual preferred.

Works in standard office and school building environments. Must be able to work regularly scheduled hours. Must be able to handle stress.
