Working Title: Radiography Orientation Instructor
Schedule: 20-25 hours per week
Onsite Mission Center Building

POSITION SUMMARY
The Orientation Instructor is responsible for planning and delivering the program's orientation curriculum that prepares newly admitted radiography students for success in the online didactic, face-to-face laboratory, and clinical components of the 18-month program. Working under the direction of the Program Director and in coordination with the Clinical Coordinator, the Orientation Instructor introduces students to program policies, professional expectations, patient-safety and radiation-safety fundamentals, and the tools and habits needed to transition successfully into the health-care learning environment. The role sets the tone for student professionalism, engagement, and readiness, and ensures that every incoming cohort begins the program with a consistent, equitable, and well-documented orientation experience.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
The UCSF Radiologic Technologist Training & Leadership Academy is an 18-month, full-time entry-level radiography program, developed in partnership with City College of San Francisco (CCSF) and designed to prepare students for competent, compassionate entry-level practice as radiologic technologists. The program is organized across six consecutive 11-week terms (approximately 25–28 contact hours per week) and integrates asynchronous online coursework, weekly online meetings with instructors, face-to-face laboratory sessions, and supervised clinical rotations at five UCSF-affiliated imaging sites (UCSF Parnassus, Mission Bay, Mt. Zion, Health Hyde Medical Center, and Health Stanyan Medical Center). The curriculum is structured to develop clinical competence, critical thinking, effective communication, and professionalism, and is grounded in the resources of one of the world's leading academic medical centers. The program is pursuing accreditation from the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and approval from the California Department of Public Health, Radiologic Health Branch (RHB); upon completion, graduates are eligible to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification examination in radiography [R.T.(R)]. Faculty build a foundation of knowledge and skill in didactic and laboratory courses before students demonstrate competency in the clinical setting, and all faculty responsibilities are clearly delineated to support the program's mission and JRCERT accreditation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of radiography program structure, professional expectations, and the transition needs of newly admitted allied-health students.
Working knowledge of radiation-safety and patient-safety fundamentals sufficient to orient students at an introductory level.
Familiarity with JRCERT supervision policies and program compliance requirements applicable to new students.
Strong interpersonal, presentation, and facilitation skills for engaging and motivating a new student cohort.
Ability to organize and deliver structured orientation content and to maintain accurate completion records.
Effective written and oral communication skills, including active listening and the ability to advise and support students.
Ability to foster an inclusive, collaborative, and professional learning environment.
Proficiency with standard office software and learning-management/student-information platforms.

Education
Associate's degree in radiologic technology or a related field (or equivalent experience / training).
