Summary
o Performs radiologic procedures to assist in the diagnosis of disease and injuries and to evaluate the technical quality of radiographs. Provides procedural-related patient care and education. Maintains records and documentation for procedures.
Qualifications
Essential Functions
o Interprets patient's histories and physician instructions
o Assesses patient's condition prior to administering a contrast media or performing the radiographic procedure.
o Explains and prepares patients for roentgengraphic and/or fluoroscopic examination.
o Determines proper technique and selects exposure factors, exposes and develops film.
o Practices radiation protection procedures according to ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) for patients, self, and others. Practices medical and surgical aseptic techniques.
o Perform diagnostic radiograph procedures through the application of ionizing radiation to produce images on film.
o Administers oral contrast media and performs successful injection of contrast media.
o Assist radiologist during fluoroscopy exams.
o Documents patient assessment/history related to procedures.
o Performs and documents equipment quality control according to protocols: recognizes and reports malfunctions or variations to supervisor as needed.
o Performs other related duties as assigned.
