Job Description

TheFlexRadiologicTechnologist (RT) works withMedical Providers and/ora MedicalAssistants with the examination and treatment ofGoHealthUrgent Care patients. This roleis responsible forprovidinga variety of technical proceduresandprescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosisfor ourGoHealthUrgent Care patients.This roleisresponsible forperforming and analyzingpatient x-rays and reporting results toMedical Providers.Additionalresponsibilities includeproviding administrative support to ensure efficient operation ofGoHealthUrgent Care Centers.In a collaborative manner, the Radiologic Technologist will provide support toMedical Providers, MedicalAssistantsand patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management,organizationand communication.

The Flex RT does not anchor ata oneparticular urgentcare site.The Flex RT works across sitesin close proximity toone another.As patient care needs arise requiring X-ray, the FlexRT travels from to the respective site torendercare. The travel nature of this roleenables toFlexRT to be exposed to a variety of urgent care settings and maximizes quantity of X-Rays an RT performs. 

Job Requirements

Education

  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

Work Experience

  • Experience in a clinical setting preferred

Required Licenses/Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)at the time of hire (obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA).

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration.

  • Applicable state licensure as a Radiologic Technologist.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for x-ray services as needed

  • Under the direction of the clinical provider, perform x-ray services for patients by applying x-ray energy toassistin diagnosis or treatment of patients in all age groups from newborn to elderly.

  • Ensure patients are positioned correctly on or in front of equipment and protected during use.

  • Will need to push patient in a wheelchair

Patient Preparation and Rooming

  • Inform technical staff of patient flow.

  • Prepare patients for examination, which includes conducting interviews to verify patient information, record medical history; confirm purpose of visit;

  • Perform preliminary physical tests (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) for vital signs and escalate critical cases to the provider as needed.

  • Conduct point of care testing as needed (i.e., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG); and provide patient information to providers.

Administrative

  • Responsible for maintenance of medical records and scanning charts to patient files.

  • Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up on care

  • Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment;maintainQuality Assurance/Quality Control logs for equipment troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, andsubmitrepair tickets as needed

Other responsibilities include: 

  • Medical Team Support: Collaborate with the ordering/treating Provider todeterminewhich procedures or views will bestassistinaccuratediagnoses and treatment. Support clinic operations to keep the center running smoothly. 

  • Patient Care: Explaining procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort and safety, and answering their questions. 

  • Patient Positioning: Accurately positioning patients and equipment foroptimalimaging results. 

  • Image Production: Selecting proper ionizing factors by adjusting/setting radiographic controls to capture clear, high-quality diagnostic images

  • Equipment Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance, cleaning of X-ray equipment, and managing necessary supplies. 

  • Radiation Safety: Adhering to strict radiation safety protocols and implementing ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) to minimize exposure to patients and staff. 

  • Documentation:Maintainingaccuratepatient records and logging of completed procedures in electronic systems and/or logbooks as. 

  • Image Management: Verifying image quality and ensuring images are sent to radiologists for interpretation. 

Knowledge:

1. Knowledge of X-ray procedures and protocols.

2. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X-ray testing including body mechanics

and patient movement.

3. Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.

Skills:

1. Positioning patients properly for the X-ray procedure.

2.Identifyingequipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisors.

3. Following infection control and radiological safety procedures.
