Job Profile Summary:

This position emphasizes the use of various imaging techniques and practices to assist in diagnosing and treating patients. Responsibilities include performing Diagnostic Radiology tasks, evaluating physical conditions related to diagnostics, and operating medical imaging equipment. This role requires specialized knowledge or skills acquired through vocational education, training, and experience, primarily focused on patient care and/or scientific/laboratory functions. It is an experienced-level position that necessitates a foundational understanding of job procedures and tools gained through work experience and vocational or technical education. The role operates under moderate supervision, addressing routine issues while occasionally requiring interpretation or deviation from standard procedures, and involves communicating information that may need some explanation.

Job Overview:

Conduct radiologic procedures on assigned patients in accordance with departmental and hospital policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives. Ensure that radiologic procedures adhere to safety, accuracy, and timeliness standards, meeting the American College of Radiology (ACR) imaging guidelines, enabling the radiologist and/or physician to make informed diagnoses. Take responsibility for designated areas and/or procedures as assigned, collaborating effectively within departments and other service lines to foster a quality healthcare system. Work independently as necessary.

Job Description:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Radiology or a related field.
  • Radiologic Technologist Certification (ARRT).
  • Eligibility for Radiologic Technologist state license.
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • Basic Life Support Certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with X-Ray procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities: The following duties are intended to outline the general nature of the work and are not exhaustive. Additional responsibilities may be assigned.

  • Independently perform radiologic procedures on patients as assigned, adhering to policy and radiological standards.
  • Confirm patient identity and the procedure to be conducted.
  • Provide clear and precise instructions to patients.
  • Verify and execute correct imaging protocols, steps, and scanner parameters for each patient.
  • Ensure safety for both patients and staff regarding equipment usage.
  • Engage in ongoing education and training.
  • Conduct quality control on equipment and devices as necessary.
  • Communicate with other staff and departments to coordinate patient care.
  • Maintain inventory and request supplies when needed.
  • Keep all work areas clean and functional in compliance with DPH and The Joint Commission standards.
  • May mentor students and assist new technologists.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent standing, occasional sitting, walking, and lifting of 30-35 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity for operating radiology equipment.
  • Hearing and visual acuity sufficient for performing examinations, observing patients, reading monitors and documents, and hearing equipment alarms.
  • Exposure to bodily fluids and communicable diseases.
