Job Summary:

Responsible for planning and performing diagnostic patient examinations using technical skills utilizing radiation-emitting equipment to produce diagnostic radiographs.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1.   Review requisitions to determine proper room set up and amounts of radiation.  Study views required for examination relative to patient’s anatomy and perform examinations.
    
2.   Prepare and administer contrast agents (e.g. Barium) as required.
    
3.  Provide nursing care to patient during and following examinations.  This includes evaluating patient and calling codes if patient gets in dire distress.    


4.  Provide radiation protection for self, patient and staff by using various protective devices and by selecting radiation factors which will result in a quality study with minimal radiation exposure to the patient.

5.  Evaluate diagnostic films to ensure quality studies, having unsuitable films repeated as necessary.  

6.  Perform other various functions including assisting radiologist during procedures.

7.  Train employees and students in day to day procedures.  

8.  Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

An Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology and minimum six months job-related experience or equivalent is required. CPR Certification Required. ARRT is also required.
