At NorthBay Health, the Radiologic Tech I Urgent Care, works under the supervision of the Urgent Care Supervisor or Area Manager with oversight by the Solano Diagnostics Imaging Leadership. Performs general radiographic studies to established QA criteria. Produces radiographs and organizes images, completes required paperwork and charges. Responsible for patient safety and well-being during examinations. Assists and instructs patients during examinations. Assists with clerical and other duties as assigned. Reports all equipment malfunctions. Cleans and inspects equipment prior to use. During times that radiologic studies are not being specifically performed, moves to staffing as a Patient Services Representative for all duties until which time another study presents. Performs general front office duties of moderate scope and complexity including reception, registration, appointment scheduling, insurance verification and medical records management functions

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

  1. Performs radiographic examinations in accordance to established protocols.

  2. Assists and instructs patients prior and during examinations.

  3. Responsible for evaluating each study to ensure it meets required quality standards.

  4. Responsible for patient safety and well-being during examinations.

  5. Responsible for inspecting and cleaning equipment prior to use.

  6. Reports to supervisor equipment failures and/or malfunctions.

  7. Reports all patient complaints, discrepancies and drug reactions according to QA policies.

  8. Responsible for producing images, burning CD and occasional film printing, organizing paperwork and completing requisition data.

  9. Seeks out during down time, work in other areas of department throughout the day, such as: front desk duties, rooming patients, or assisting with other duties as needed, etc.

  10. Registration and Charge Entry

  11. Gathers, updates and verifies a comprehensive package of registration and insurance/payer information and ensures accurate entry into the EMR.

  12. Provides information to patients regarding the selection process of a care provider, assists in determining insurance eligibility, co-payments, share of costs and other financial responsibilities for services rendered. Obtains signatures on required forms.

  13. Verifies and documents eligibility for all payers at the time of service.

  14. Reviews benefit plan/s with patient to determine specific allowances and/or restrictions based on services requested.

  15. Researches and answers inquiries related to claims, eligibility and referrals.

  16. Collects co-payments, deposits and fees, reconciling all payments at the end of their shift.

  17. Ensures the accuracy of demographic and insurance information in accordance with the policies, procedures and service expectations of each department.

  18. Other duties as assigned.

Compensation Structure

NorthBay Health uses a structured compensation framework. Staff-level positions use a step-based system (Steps 1-5) based on years of directly related experience, with Step 5 representing 20 or more years of experience in the role. Manager level and above positions are paid a fixed annual base salary and are eligible for a variable incentive compensation plan. Physician compensation is structured based on specialty and role requirements.

REQUIRED:

  • Graduate of an AMA approved radiology course.

  • New graduate eligible but prefer one year of experience in general radiology.

  • Basic clerical and computer experience.
