The Radiology Aide supports the radiology team by transporting patients to and from the department, assisting with imaging procedures, and helping ensure a smooth workflow. Radiology Aide duties: preparing imaging rooms, positioning patients under the guidance of a registered technologist, giving patient instructions, and performing general support tasks to enhance patient care and departmental efficiency.

Responsibilities of these positions include:

  • Provides safe support to patients during ambulation, transfers, and mobility activities using appropriate assistive devices such as wheelchairs, stretchers, patient beds, and imaging tables while ensuring proper body mechanics and safety techniques.
  • Transports patients to and from the radiology department. Verifies patient identity and procedure information prior to transport, following hospital protocols to ensure accurate matching of patient and procedure.
  • Provides basic patient support, including offering blankets, repositioning for comfort, and ensuring patient privacy and dignity during transport.
  • Communicates effectively with Radiology department staff, nursing units, and other departments to coordinate timely patient movement and minimize patient wait times, communicating delays to the care team, as necessary.
  • Maintains cleanliness and readiness of transport equipment (wheelchairs, stretchers, etc.), promptly reporting any equipment malfunctions.
  • Assists in room turnover and general department upkeep, such as stocking supplies and sanitizing surfaces.
  • Under the direction and supervision of a technologist, positions patient correctly for imaging exams and provides basic exam instructions.
  • Burns imaging discs and ensures proper documentation is completed before release to patients.
  • Assists with patient requests and reports concerns to imaging technologist.

Requirements of these positions include:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Must be accepted, enrolled, or on a waitlist for a radiography program
  • Read, speak, write, and understand English required
  • BLS Certification required
