Summary:The Radiology Assistant Specialist will assist the healthcare team in providing excellent customer service and quality patient care by performing patient-related tasks as well as a variety of clerical duties. Responsibilities include taking basic X-ray exams, Dexa scans, patient transportation, and clerical duties.
Position Reports To: Radiology Manager/Supervisor
Essential Functions:Performs basic X-ray and Dexa exams as directed by the provider, in compliance with WA DOH X-ray Technician, Limited Scope license, (WAC 246-225-99920).
Prepares patient and performs all approved exams following good radiation safety, quality assurance, and infection control procedures.
Reviews and evaluates diagnostic images for technical quality.
Verifies patient information and exams performed, updates and changes exam description to reflect actual exam performed.
Utilizes PACS, RIS, and current EMR efficiently and completes the required paperwork for each examination performed.
Maintains the cleanliness of x-ray equipment and associated minor equipment in accordance with infection control policies and procedures. Places work orders for service. Reports malfunctions and necessary repairs to supervisory personnel.
Complies with all continuing education requirements as dictated by regulatory entities.
Attend department meetings and participate in all annual required training and in-service training.
Participate in Quality Improvement Programs.
Complies with As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) principles, Image Gently principles, and Image Wisely pledge.
Understand principles of correct body mechanics and can apply these in assisting patients during transfer, lifting and ambulation.
Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
Demonstrate Standards of Behavior and adhere to the Code of Conduct in all aspects of job performance at all times.
