Radiology / Cardiology/Echo Tech/Cardiac Sonographer

Summary:

• Duration: 59 day assignment

Responsibilities:

• Localizes and recognizes differences between healthy and pathological areas to check for factors such as position, obstruction, or change in shape.
• Judges if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.
• Records, files, and edits results of sonograms.
• Maintains logs of ultrasound test findings.
• Presents preliminary findings to physician for final approval.
• Assists the physician with patient care.
• Explains the procedures to the patient, records medical history considered necessary, and prepares patients for testing.
• Conducts specialized procedures on patients such as amniocentesis tests and localization renal biopsies.
• Consults with supervisor or physician when in doubt.
• Trains and orients new personnel.
• Must be able to use independent judgment in performing ultrasound examinations.
• Is competent to care for patients based upon the age groups treated.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
• Complies with all policies and standards.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in appropriate modality required.
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Sonography required.
• Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification in appropriate clinical specialty required.
• BLS certification.

Preferred Skills:

• One year experience in Diagnostic Ultrasound preferred.
• Two years of college preferred.
