  • Contract Duration: 3 months
  • Pay Rate: $71.00 / Hour (USD)
  • Shift / Schedule: Thursday 10:30 AM 11:00 PM (Ortho Hospital), Friday 10:30 AM 11:00 PM (Ortho Hospital), Saturday 6:30 PM 7:00 AM (Main Facility); 3x12-hour shifts
  • Travel Requirements: Float requirement: Thursday and Friday at NHRMC Ortho Hospital; Saturday at the main hospital
  • Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Job Summary

This is a travel/contract MRI Tech position within the Radiology / Cardiology specialty at a regional medical center in Wilmington, NC. The unit will not accept first-time travelers. Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team, and may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event, mass casualty, or disaster. Consolidation to the Centralized Office mid-contract may occur, and contract staff may be preassigned to units as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform MRI imaging across a range of body areas including abdomen, pelvis, head and neck, spine, and musculoskeletal regions
  • Conduct diffusion (non-brain), gradient echo imaging, MIP, MRP, peripheral magnetic resonance, spin echo images, and CINE sequences
  • Utilize surface coils and perform T1 and T2 imaging
  • Float between NHRMC Ortho Hospital (Thursday and Friday shifts) and the main facility (Saturday shift) as assigned
  • Provide imaging services for patient populations including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics; preferred familiarity with neonates, infants, and pediatric patients
  • Operate imaging systems including Siemens equipment and document via EPIC
  • Participate in unit orientation (8:00 AM 4:30 PM); must be fully available for classes each day during Hospital Orientation week one
  • Report as assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of MRI Tech experience required
  • Unit will NOT accept first-time travelers
  • Proficiency in: abdomen, pelvis, head and neck, spine, musculoskeletal, diffusion (non-brain), gradient echo imaging, MIP, MRP, peripheral magnetic resonance, spin echo images, surface coils, T1 and T2, CINE
  • Familiarity with patient populations: adolescent, adults, geriatrics (REQUIRED)
  • Experience with Siemens MRI equipment
  • Proficiency with EPIC documentation system
  • Scheduling type: Per Unit Needs

Preferred Skills

  • Chest imaging
  • Image post-processing
  • Familiarity with neonatal, infant, and pediatric patient populations

Education Requirements

  • BLS certification required
  • ARRT certification required

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of MRI Tech experience required
  • Travel/contract experience required unit will NOT accept first-time travelers

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Rotating shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (days and nights)
  • Thursday and Friday shifts: 10:30 AM 11:00 PM at NHRMC Ortho Hospital
  • Saturday shift: 6:30 PM 7:00 AM at Main Facility
  • No on-call requirement
  • No call-back requirement
  • Float requirement between NHRMC Ortho Hospital and the main facility
  • Scrubs: Royal blue
  • Contract staff may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters (Storm Team / Hurricane Team)
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
  • COVID-19 vaccination: Not required
  • Scheduling type: Per Unit Needs

Important Notes

  • RTO (Return to Origin) after booking is not allowed and is not allowed to be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on unit could possibly result in a contract cancel and DNR (Do Not Rehire).
  • The expected start date is based on the facility's schedule but is subject to change depending on class and trainer availability. Travelers may start on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday of the first week and must be fully available with no other commitments to accommodate any schedule changes. Missing any portion of orientation may result in a delayed or canceled start.
  • The facility will confirm the final start date on the Tuesday prior to the start week.
  • Hospital Orientation is week one; traveler must be available for classes each day (8:00 AM 4:30 PM).
  • Locals accepted.
