Job DescriptionThis position involves independently performing imaging procedures, with a focus on computed tomography (CT) utilizing established scan protocols, including contrast administration. The CT Technologist is responsible for utilizing complex imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, reconstruction, and documentation of image data, adhering strictly to departmental protocols.
Responsibilities- Independently perform computed tomography procedures and adjust protocols as necessary to ensure optimal diagnostic outcomes.
- Utilize imaging equipment competently for image data acquisition, analysis, and documentation.
- Administer intravenous, oral, and rectal contrast media per physician orders and assess patients for any potential risk factors.
- Demonstrate proper venipuncture techniques and the use of power injectors according to departmental and manufacturer protocols.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providing clear instructions and alleviating their concerns throughout the imaging process.
- Ensure accurate patient identification using two patient identifiers and apply universal protocol in all procedures.
- Document patient history in the electronic medical record as required.
- Code and track all exams performed, ensuring proper network archiving and charge entry for services rendered.
- Collaboration with team members and other departments to enhance patient care efficiency.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure- Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited CNMT program.
- CT registry must be acquired within 18 months of the primary registry date or date of hire if primary registry is already obtained.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience is required.
- ARRT Certificate and Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC) are mandatory.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and state licensure as per PA, MD, and NY regulations.
