Job Summary and Qualifications

As an Imaging Student Extern, you will build valuable hands-on experience by learning from experienced team members who are committed to your growth. You’ll be a valued, respected part of the team, contributing your insights and helping deliver care that keeps patients comfortable and confident throughout their imaging experience. 

Under the supervision of the radiologist, supervisor and a registered technologist, performs procedures in accordance with established protocols for patients of all ages. Responsible for maintaining expert technical and patient-care skills and providing quality diagnostic results. Individual utilizes radiation protection for patients and employees. Individual administers contrast media and responsible for preparing sterile tray and/or fields. Individual assists patients and physicians as directed. Prepares, processes, and documents information to complete exams. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. 

  • Prepare patients for imaging by obtaining histories, verifying identities, and assisting with positioning communicating clearly and compassionately 
  • Safely transport patients between areas, supporting their comfort and emotional needs during procedures 
  • Set up imaging rooms, manage turnover, and organize supplies to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient environment 
  • Serve as a vital connection between patients, technologists, and the care team by communicating needs and concerns promptly 
  • Take ownership of your growth by participating in learning opportunities and following safety and confidentiality standards 

What qualifications you will need:

  • ARRT eligible or in accredited radiology program.  
  • Current BLS required from AHA or ARC 
  • Must be currently enrolled in a Radiologic Technology program. 
  • Must be in senior year of Radiologic Technology program.  
  • Must be familiar with the majority of diagnostic radiology procedures with a high degree of manual skills and dexterity necessary for operation of equipment and patient care. Must be capable of applying technical skills to all age patients.  
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
