    Job Details: Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Locations: Putnam, CT Hours: 40 hours per week Schedule: Days, 8-hour shifts Weekends: As needed

    Radiology Tech Assistant Job Summary:

    As a Radiology Tech Assistant (LPN, CNA, or MA), you will be an important member of our Diagnostic Imaging team, supporting both our patients and technologists throughout the imaging process. In this role, you will provide initial patient triage, registration, and intake services, assist with direct patient care, and perform routine clinical procedures in accordance with established protocols. You will also provide clerical support and help coordinate patient flow, ensuring our department operates efficiently and patients receive a smooth, positive experience throughout their visit.

    Radiology Tech Assistant Key Responsibilities:

    Assist radiologic technologists, nuclear medicine technologists, sonographers, and Mammographer in preparing and positioning patients for imaging procedures. Rotates throughout the diagnostic imaging department to facilitate and help assure high-quality imaging services to patients. Ensure patient comfort and safety during imaging processes. Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks; checks in patients, assists in obtaining patient histories, takes vital signs, prepares charts, and assists with medical examinations. Completes all necessary forms, requisitions, and communications required to implement orders. Schedules and monitors patient appointments; may coordinate routine office activities and administrative functions in support of unit activities. Performs routine specialized procedures, which could include sterile dressing changes under established protocols. Assists with orientation of other clerical personnel to the department. Transports patients to and from diagnostic imaging department. Prepares room, equipment, and needed supplies for diagnostic imaging procedure. Educates and advises patients on specified medical issues within established parameters. Maintains stocks of medicines and medical supplies as necessary.

    Radiology Tech Assistant Experience and Education Requirements:

    Education:

    High School diploma or equivalent required. Current CPR training required. Successful completion of CMA or CNA Program preferred. Completion of a Medical Terminology course preferred. Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing required for LPN. Current LPN license in Connecticut required for LPN.

    Experience:

    One to three years' experience in clinical position preferred. One to three years' experience as a nursing or medical assistant or in a related field preferred. Previous experience in a hospital environment preferred. Prior computer experience required.

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

    Must be proficient in Reasoning, Math, Reading, Writing, and Speaking: Speak clearly and distinctly with appropriate pauses and emphasis, correct pronunciation, variations in word order, using present, perfect and future tenses. Ability to plan, organize, direct and control the flow of communication and tasks within the job duties and responsibilities with minimal supervision and with time limitations. Ability to perform detailed assignments, work accurately, follow directions and assess priorities. Good physical and mental health, able to assist with heavy lifting and capable of working under pressure. Ability to learn procedures and techniques involved in administrating basic patient care. Possess good communication skills and ability to deal with patients, their families and visitors with patience and tact.
