The Reg Rad Tech arranges patients for radiological examinations. Produces radiographs (x-rays)/ images to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems. Prevents patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation. To insure patient safety uses pre-established imaging protocols and departmental policy to perform safe operation of radiology equipment and all functions of the job. Provides complete pre and post education to patients and family. Initially, may require instruction and guidance to accomplish the job and should develop into performing work under general supervision.

Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technologist Program
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, ARRT (R)
Louisiana/ Mississippi State License or registry eligible or current temp license
Basic Life Support, BLS - HCP
Clinical skills
Understands methods and is capable of performing venipuncture.
Obtains an accurate medical history.
Patient/General Safety
Checks film for quality on a per patient basis and assures proper identification is recorded.
Corroborates patients clinical history with procedure, assuring information is documented and available for use by licensed practitioner.
Transports patients to exam rooms or imaging equipment to patient areas, adhering to safety rules.
All Triage imaging procedures are completed in a timely manner.
Evaluate patients to ensure that they are examined safely without harm or further injury to the patient.
Radiation safety
Selects and operates radiography equipment, imaging and/or associated accessories to successfully perform procedures.
Technologist is able to function and operate equipment in emergency situations.
Documentation/Communication
Verifies all requests have been completed in Radnet in a timely manner.
Effective communication with all other departments
Communicates information to patients concerning examinations

Adheres to hospital policy on the usage of Paid Time Off and Extended Illness Time.
When requested, adjusts personal schedule to meet department/unit needs.
Reports to work on time, and if necessary, reports tardiness to approprate person.
Utilizes time to accomplish work in an efficient manner.
Maintains a professional appearance, according to job requirements, at all times.
Employee shall conform to regulatory, customer and organizational requirements.
Attended all required mandatory educational sessions.
Operates equipment and performs job-related duties in a safe manner.
Responds approprately to fire, safety and diaster situations. Utilizes Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the appropriate manner for optimal personal protection.
Adheres to infection control practices. Has completed required TB skin test(s).
Assumes personal responsibility for ongoing continuing education and professional development.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
