JOB TITLE: Interventional Radiologic Technologist

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provide assistance to the clinical team ensuring surgical schedule is followed, setting up sterile surgical tray, assisting the Medical Director with surgical cases, managing and storing patient radiographic images. As a member of our team, you will interact with patients, physicians and dialysis facilities as part of our community educational program.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Physician/Chief of the Medical Facility

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Prepares and positions patient for diagnostic imaging procedures
  • Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician
  • Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxiety and obtain patient cooperation
  • Moves imaging equipment into specified position, determines exposure factors on basis of height, weight,
  • portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure
  • factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy
  • Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff
  • Participates in monthly radiation safety meetings
  • Performs specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures.
  • Assists radiologist in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations
  • Works alongside Medical Director during procedures by scrubbing and assisting with surgery
  • Prepares images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician
  • Obtains and saves images during procedures
  • Monitors patients during procedures, operating a C-Arm (within the scope of practice)
  • Manages, appropriately names and uploads procedural images to directory
  • Prepares equipment which includes cleaning and sterilizing instruments
  • Maintains inventory of medical supply par levels while working with Medical Director and Purchasing

  • Ensure the confidentiality of all user names/passwords assigned to you; ensure these are not shared with any
  • other employees or third parties.
  • Perform all job functions and employee duties to the highest level of confidentiality ensuring PHI (including
  • electronic) is not compromised.
  • Employee will have access to the applicable PVG network and software solutions relative to the position.
  • Compliance with an adverse incident reporting system.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Knowledge of modern radiologic equipment and techniques; regional and gross anatomy of the human body; standardized radiologic clinical procedures; thorough knowledge of the hazards of radiologic materials and the safety precautions required; the operation and care of modern radiologic equipment; and the ordering and storing of supplies.

EDUCATION: (include any licenses or certifications required)

  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Possession of a current valid certificate as a certified Radiologic Technologist in diagnostic radiologic technology issued by the Florida State Department of Health Services.
  • Two years of experience, including training in radiologic techniques and methods, under an accredited medical radiologist. (Successful completion of the work required for a graduate nurse may be substituted for one year of this required experience and training.) or successful completion of a two-year training program in radiologic technology approved by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association, in collaboration with the American College of Radiology.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification required; Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiology (CV) or Vascular-Interventional Radiology certification preferred
  • Knowledge of sterile technique
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
