Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor s degree and one year of experience in mass transportation operations; or completion of sixty (60) semester credits and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in mass transportation operations; or high school diploma or GED and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in mass transportation operations; or high school diploma or GED and a minimum of four (4) years of experience as a Train Operator. The DTPW classification of Rail Traffic Controller performs safety-sensitive functions and is subject to the provisions of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Drug and Alcohol Regulations. Proof of education and work experience to meet minimum qualifications must be presented and will be verified.

Recruitment Notes

The Rail Traffic Controller position is based in the Control Center and plays a critical role in the rail and mover daily operations. It is a fast-paced, 24/7 environment that requires focus, concise communication skills, and decision-making. This position necessitates using computers, the ability to multitask, and the capacity to work effectively in a team setting to be successful. The position operates on a three-shift rotation, covering all days of the week-including weekends and holidays. Both verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to make independent decisions are need in this role. This position is tasked with maintaining a safe and efficient rail service.

Qualifying experience should include knowledge in one or more areas related to identification, assessment, coordination, or resolution of operational issues impacting scheduled service, service delays, failure management, equipment malfunctions, power loss incidents, situational awareness and emergency response, or other operational disruptions within a transportation environment.
