As a Railcar Prep & Inspection Technician, you will examine, clean, and prepare railcars for service. You may also perform authorized minor repairs using stick welding.This active, hands-on position is performed primarily outdoors around rail equipment. It is a good fit for someone who enjoys physical work, takes pride in doing the job correctly, and can stay productive in a fast-moving industrial environment.Your ResponsibilitiesYou will help ensure railcars are clean, properly inspected, and prepared for transportation. Daily duties may include:Examining railcars for visible damage, excessive wear, and signs of fatigueOperating railcar end doors safelyClearing dirt, debris, and other materials with backpack blowers and scraping equipmentIdentifying repair needs that fall within the company's approved scope of workCompleting authorized minor repairs using stick-welding techniquesCaring for assigned tools, equipment, and personal protective equipmentMaintaining an orderly and hazard-free work areaFollowing all Road & Rail Services, customer, and industry safety requirementsWhat You'll NeedThe ideal candidate is dependable, attentive to detail, and committed to working safely.
