ROLE OVERVIEW

This position is responsible for building and repairing railroad track and other railroad-related tasks. Employee will operate straight or articulated rubber-tired tractor type vehicle equipped with front mounted hydraulically powered bucket forklift medium duty type section truck back hoe skid loader wheel loader on and off-track excavator double axel roto on track dump truck ballast regulator set up for snow removal tie crane ballast regulator track tamper tie inserter spiker and spike puller.

Typical schedule during production season is Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM with 1 - 2 Saturdays per month. Typical schedule during maintenance season is Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Hours may vary depending on weather and customer demand.

Starting wage is $25.00/hour and up depending on experience.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain right of way
  • Build new railroad track
  • Use different machines to accomplish railroad-related tasks
  • Help perform maintenance on machines
  • Laying out rail tie and other track materials
  • Snow removal
  • Clearing vegetation
  • Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Up to one-month related experience or training
  • Must have a valid drivers license. Class A CDL preferred
  • Must be able to qualify as a valid worker under FRA standards
  • Knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Must be able to obtain DOT medical card
  • Ensure FRA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, DNR, MSHA, Federal, State, and Local safety and environmental regulation compliance including attending training
