Ranch Manager (Row Crops)

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Crop Manager to oversee the cultivation and management of crops on our farm. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agricultural practices, including experience with heavy equipment operation, and center pivot irrigation systems. This role requires a hands-on approach to managing row crop farm operations while ensuring the health and productivity of our crops.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of three to five that will execute several aspects of the crop growth cycle, including fertilizer and pesticide applications, cultivation, irrigation, and hay baling.
• Collaborate with the broader management team to execute company-wide operations, including planting, spraying, and corn harvest.
• Manage periodic night baling activities, which requires week-long stretches of night shift- An estimated seven to eight weeks annually.
• Operate and maintain heavy equipment and farm machinery to ensure efficient operations.
• Implement effective irrigation strategies to optimize water usage and crop yield.
• Maintain accurate records of crop production activities, including planting schedules, harvest yields, and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a farming or agricultural environment with a focus on row crop management- forage crops such as corn and alfalfa would be ideal.
• Experience leading a team, including recruitment, training, development, and management.
• Strong mechanical knowledge related to farm equipment operation and maintenance.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members.
• English language proficiency is required, Spanish would be preferred.
