Position Summary
The Ranch Property Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and overall management of a ranch property. This role ensures the property is well-maintained, efficiently operated, and aligned with the owner’s goals, whether agricultural, recreational, or residential.


Key Responsibilities

  • Property Oversight
    • Manage day-to-day operations of the ranch, including land, facilities, and infrastructure
    • Conduct routine inspections to ensure property is in excellent condition
    • Coordinate repairs and maintenance of buildings, fences, roads, and equipment
  • Land & Livestock Management
    • Oversee grazing, pasture rotation, irrigation, and land use practices
    • Supervise livestock care (feeding, health monitoring, breeding coordination if applicable)
    • Work with veterinarians, farriers, and agricultural specialists as needed
  • Staff Supervision
    • Hire, train, and manage ranch hands and other staff
    • Schedule work assignments and ensure tasks are completed efficiently
    • Maintain a safe and productive work environment
  • Equipment & Inventory Management
    • Maintain and operate ranch equipment (tractors, trucks, tools, etc.)
    • Track inventory of feed, supplies, and materials
    • Coordinate purchasing and vendor relationships
  • Financial & Administrative Duties
    • Assist with budgeting and expense tracking
    • Maintain records related to livestock, crops, maintenance, and operations
    • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Security & Stewardship
    • Monitor property security and access
    • Promote sustainable land management and conservation practices
    • Respond to emergencies such as weather events, fires, or animal health issues

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in ranch management, agriculture, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of livestock care, land management, and equipment operation
  • Leadership and team management skills
  • Basic mechanical skills and ability to troubleshoot equipment
  • Familiarity with budgeting and record-keeping
  • Valid driver’s license 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with irrigation systems and water management
  • Knowledge of fencing, welding, or construction
  • Understanding of sustainable or regenerative agriculture practices
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery

Working Conditions

  • Primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Physically demanding work, including lifting, walking, and operating machinery
  • May require irregular hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $55,000 – $70,000 annually, depending on experience
  • Additional benefits may include vehicle use, utilities, or performance bonuses
