SUMMARY: A Range Master is a licensed peace officer certified by the T.C.O.L.E standards. An extensive background in firearms and maintenance of firearms is essential to this position, along with the ability to maintain a firearms range with upkeep and basic construction. Operation of mechanical equipment, i.e., tractors, mowers, trailers, etc., will be necessary from time to time. The Range Master must possess skills of communication and organization.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: A Basic Peace Officer License and 5 years of certified firearms instructor training.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: Range Master's knowledge and abilities, which are required to perform the duties and responsibilities of these positions, are as follows:
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: A Basic Peace Officer certificate from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (T.C.O.L.E). Licensed T.C.O.L.E. Instructor and Firearms Instructor certificates. Glock and AR-15 Armorer Certification with 3 years of experience as an armorer is recommended.

The employee may be occasionally called upon to perform acts of intense physical exertion during emergency situations. Special vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position requires that the range master be exposed to the extreme noise of firearms at random times, requiring the use of protective ear and eye devices during those times.
