Job Summary

About the Position

This position operates under close oversight and requires the integration of administrative, clinical, and community-based responsibilities. This includes coordinating internal processes as well as maintaining effective partnerships with external service providers and community agencies.

The work setting is typically located within the detention center and re-entry facility, with duties conducted in secure custody areas, intake and processing units, and collaborative workspaces shared with departments such as classification, probation, and health services. The environment is professional and fast-paced, with strict adherence to established protocols, safety procedures, confidentiality requirements, and operational standards.

  • Must work rotating shifts and irregular schedules to include completion of work assignments on weekends and holidays
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background
  • Travel is required
  • Will have interaction with the public.

Compensation: Range 18/Step 1, $26.93

  • MUST pass drug screen post offer

Essential Job Functions

  • Plans, organizes, and coordinates the activities of professional, paraprofessional, clerical, staff, and volunteer personnel involved in the Mohave County Sheriff's Re-Entry Program; works directly with service providers countywide to create a network of services for individuals re-entering incarcerated individuals in a way that improves community safety by completeness, accuracy, and adherence to policy and procedure guidelines; instructs personnel in department policies, procedure guidelines, and provides training.
  • Serves as a resource of information for service providers, release coordinators, coworkers, and management.
  • Ensures eligible participants are made aware of the program criteria and available services; explains program rules, regulations, and procedures to participants; ensures enrollment of participants and prepares employment and training plans; provides on-going case management and career coaching to support plan implementation.
  • Works cooperatively with inmates and practitioners to identify treatment options.
  • Creates and updates hard copy and electronic database client files by recording each contact made with clients and families; maintains records required for active participants and for follow-up after participants are exited from the program.
  • Serves as a liaison between participants and community agencies; collaborates with relevant agencies to create and work toward unified case management plans.
  • Maintains an awareness of local job market and opportunities to assist in providing guidance to participants; may attend job fairs, conduct special workshops, presentations, group orientations, or perform other training and outreach services.
  • Reviews assessment of participant needs for support services and updates available services on a routine basis.
  • Researches, recommends, and administers assessment instruments; evaluates and interprets results of assessment and tracks recidivism rates on a bi-annual basis.
  • Communicates and acts in a professional manner with the public, co-workers, and work contacts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in the social services field.
  • Five (5) years of increasingly responsible case management experience that includes individuals with mental health, substance abuse, behavioral health, and other underlying social barrier issues.
  • OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Current state and federal labor laws and regulations, and labor relations practices and activities.
  • Principles and practices of contemporary leadership and supervision.
  • Technical materials to plan, coordinate, and perform activities associated with the Mohave County Sheriff's Re-Entry Program to include strong working partnerships with county service providers.
  • Employment competency program management, implementation, evaluation, and the development of teaching and training resources.
  • Development and implementation of effective coalition with service providers and individual participants.
  • Effective interviewing and counseling techniques.
  • Current policies and regulations governing eligibility for clients.
  • Workforce-related and social service agencies and programs available in the community.
  • Personal computer systems and peripherals such as electronic spreadsheets, word processing, presentation equipment, and calculators.
  • Effective communication with partners and program participants, with the ability to organize and document all measures of success.
  • Teaching principles and instructional methods and techniques.
  • Operating personal computer systems and applicable software.
  • Administer contemporary management/supervisory principles and practices.
  • Conduct teaching sessions and develop and obtain appropriate teaching materials.
  • Aid others in providing coordinated services on an individual basis.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, implement, and develop programs.
  • Set priorities, assign, schedule, train, supervise, and evaluate work activities.
  • Comply with Mohave County Personnel Policies and Procedures and Department Regulations.
  • Analyze and evaluate data collected to develop and prepare concise, orderly recommendation and reports in a timely manner.
  • Analyze situations and determine appropriate or alternative actions.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
