Salary: In accordance with the Teachers' Salary Schedule according to education and experience.

$56,473 to 112,526

Organizational Relationship

or Line of Authority: Directly responsible to the building Principal in all procedural matters pertaining to the building. Jointly responsible to the building Principal, and ELA

Supervisor in areas of curriculum and instruction.

Statement of Duties: Serves as liaison between the ELA Supervisor,

Reading Interventionist and the classroom teacher.

Consults with classroom teachers on grouping, testing,

student placement, and instructional strategies.

Support teachers by providing resources and ideas about

assessment and instruction.

Model lessons, problem solve with teachers and facilitate

group discussions.

Assist in selection of instructional materials.

Model lessons daily with standards based instructional practices.

Assist with effective Professional Development in literacy instruction.

Work with teachers and facilitate efforts to improve fidelity of literacy instruction.

Participates in kindergarten screening, team evaluations

and the testing of new students as directed.

Assist in data analysis and interpretation.

Promotes students' interest in independent reading.

Inventories Language Arts materials in assigned building(s).

Works cooperatively with the Title I, Special Education,

Reading Interventionist and Administrators.

Attends monthly Literacy Meetings with ELA Supervisor.

Is responsible for instructional and other general duties as indicated by the building Principal, ELA Supervisor

directives of the Superintendent of Schools or

his/her designees, and policies of the Haverhill School

Committee.

Qualifications:

  • Certified as a Teacher of Reading by the Massachusetts Department of Education, SEI Endorsement
  • Ed. in Reading, preferred.
  • Demonstrated classroom teaching experience.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Knowledge of Massachusetts ELA/Literacy Framework.
  • Must have skills, knowledge, and dispositions to effectively and collaboratively work with teachers to improve general classroom literacy instruction.
  • Must have a basic understanding of adult learning and leadership skills to effectively support teachers in assigned schools.
