Summary:

The Reading Room Technologist serves as an essential member of the radiology team, providing advanced technical and operational support to radiologists in the Reading Room process. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely, and efficient preparation of imaging studies, draft reports, and comprehensive patient histories to facilitate high-quality diagnostic outcomes. Working in close collaboration with radiologists, IT specialists, and reading room coordinators, the technologist plays a critical role in maintaining imaging systems, troubleshooting technical issues, and optimizing workflows to improve turnaround times and enhance patient care. In addition to technical expertise, the position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize imaging exams based on clinical urgency.The Reading Room Technologist demonstrates adaptability in a fast-paced environment, upholds compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, and actively contributes to continuous improvement initiatives. By combining technical proficiency with workflow coordination, this role supports radiologists in delivering accurate, timely, and patient-centered diagnostic interpretations.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft Dictation Support: Prepare accurate draft reports based on radiologist dictation, ensuring proper formatting, terminology, and compliance with departmental standards.
  • Exam Prioritization: Organize and prioritize imaging exams based on clinical urgency and departmental protocols.
  • Patient History Compilation: Gather and verify comprehensive patient histories to support accurate interpretation.
  • Technical Support: Assist with troubleshooting PACS, RIS, voice recognition systems, and other imaging-related technologies.
  • Workflow Coordination: Collaborate with radiologists and reading room coordinators to maintain balanced workloads and timely exam distribution.
  • Quality Assurance: Verify completeness and accuracy of all work before shift ends
  • maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in training, protocol updates, and performance improvement initiatives.

Credentials:

  • ARRT or RDMS or CNNMT (Required)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • Education Specialization: Equivalent Experience: •And 8+ years Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology Program. Registered with ARRT in CT, MRI, Nuc Med. CPR Certified
  • Associate of Arts or Science
  • 2+ years Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology Program. Registered with ARRT in Radiography. CPR Certified.
