POSITION: Reading Tutor - St. Mary's Parish School

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree and/or enrolled in a teaching certification program at a college or university; grade level and content certification; experience teaching or tutoring elementary students preferred.

REPORTS TO: Principal or Principal Designee

RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of authorized administrators, the tutor shall: Provide academic assistance for students with developing reading skills and concepts in grades 1-3. Provide one-to-one or small group instruction. Demonstrate strong communication skills and collaborate effectively with students of varying backgrounds and levels of need. Collaborate with teachers to determine strategies to increase student achievement. Provide instruction in targeted areas based on student data. Monitor student progress. Be familiar with Google Platform and applications, especially Google Classroom. Create and maintain a safe, orderly environment that is conducive to learning. Assist content area teachers in implementing and following student-learning plans. Any other duties as assigned by the building principal.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Must be available during the school day 8:00 a.m. - 2:20 p.m. Not to exceed 8 hours per week

SALARY Stipend - $36 per hour

DATES OF EMPLOYMENT February 2026- June 2027

EVALUATION Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of St Mary's evaluation system, observations by Administration, and student feedback.
