This position demonstrates competency in fundamental real estate transaction processes while preparing drafts, performing thorough reviews, managing standard transaction components, and escalating non‑routine issues with reduced oversight. The role applies foundational knowledge of Love's real estate operations across the nation while working with independence appropriate to an intermediate‑level paralegal role within the Legal Department real estate team.Major Responsibilities Real Estate Transaction Support Coordinate standard transaction components and provide assistance in a large, multi‑state portfolio of residential and commercial real estate acquisition, sale, use, and development activitiesPrepare, review, and assist in negotiating standard transaction documents, including purchase and sale contracts, lease agreements, deeds, development agreements, easements and other conveyance, use and development instruments, 1031 tax‑deferred exchange transaction documents, eminent domain documents, and other legal instruments, with guidance on non‑routine terms and tasksReview and analyze title commitments, exception documents, and surveys; identify routine title and survey issues; assist in resolving issues with team guidance; and draft title objection lettersCoordinate standard closing activities and serve as a point of contact for opposing parties, title companies, surveyors, vendors, and other third parties, escalating non‑routine issues to senior team members or attorneysApply developing knowledge of real estate processes, legal documentation, title and survey review, client communication, and vendor coordination to manage standard transaction components with minimal oversight while building expertise in complex real estate concepts and documentsReview closing documents for accuracy and completeness and ensure timely compilation of electronic closing binders for all acquired and leased sitesDocket and manage relevant contractual deadlines; keep members of the Real Estate Department, in‑house attorneys, and Executives, as requested, apprised of such deadlines and other contractual requirements; ensure Fixed Assets and Treasury Departments are informed of upcoming real estate closings; provide outside tax consultants with information on acquired and sold sites; and provide other support and information pertinent to real estate transactions internally and externally, as requestedAct as a liaison between the Legal Department and the Real Estate Department (including multiple in‑house real estate project managers), other internal business clients, vendors and other third parties on real estate mattersEducate business clients on standard real estate acquisition and development processes and coordinate attorney guidance on legal or non‑routine issuesParticipate in regular meetings with in‑house Legal real estate team, including attorneys, other real estate paralegals, and support staff, to report on standard real estate matters, review assigned docket items, and identify other matters requiring attentionAttend and represent the Legal Department in periodic real estate status meetings with members of the Executive team and Real Estate DepartmentGeneral and Administrative Ensure maintenance of organized real estate files, consistent with departmental requirements, and accurate and current electronic real estate docket (and assist with weekly disbursement of same to members of the Real Estate Department, in‑house attorneys and Executives, as requested), and compliance with real estate purchase agreementsAct in a general legal support role for in‑house corporate counsel and the Legal Department, as needed, by assisting in the preparation and review of miscellaneous business or litigation documentation, the conduct of legal or other research, and the performance of general legal support tasksMaintain confidentiality of sensitive legal, transactional, and business information consistent with Company policies and legal obligations.Timely and accurately enter and update status of projects in matter management system and contracts in enterprise contract systemLeverage Company‑provided technology and artificial intelligence resources in the performance of assigned responsibilities, consistent with Company policies and departmental expectations.Other duties assigned as neededEducation and Experience Education: HS Diploma or equivalent required.Certification as legal assistant, paralegal, or equivalent experience preferred.Experience: 1‑3 years of related real estate acquisition transaction experience in a law firm, title company, or corporate legal department, with experience preparing common real estate transaction documentation and familiarity with real property title matters.Skills and Physical Demands Hard Skills Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, and ability to learn new software applications and computer programs, working knowledge of LexisNexis or Westlaw legal research (or willingness to learn), ability to type efficiently, and strong oral communicationUnderstanding of real estate terminology, concepts, and transaction processesFamiliarity with title commitments, surveys, and exception documentsDocument review and proofreading abilitiesExperience with legal document types (deeds, easements, purchase agreements, leases)Soft Skills Strong written communication skills for drafting correspondenceProfessional verbal communication for client and vendor interactionsActive listening skills for training and instructionAbility to ask clarifying questions when uncertainExceptional attention to detail and accuracyStrong organizational and time management abilitiesAbility to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlinesCollaborative teamwork skillsAbility to apply and continue developing knowledge of complex legal and real estate conceptsAdaptability to new processes and systemsInitiative in seeking guidance when neededTypical Physical Demands Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stoopingOccasional lifting up to 50 poundsManual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment, e.g. computer keyboard, copy machine, printer, and calculatorAbility to perceive sound at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive readingOccasional evening or weekend workLove's is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
