General DescriptionCollects and compiles data and operates a computer to perform routine clerical duties to maintain business records and reports.Duties and ResponsibilitiesVisits, inspects, and collects data for real property and mobile homes as assigned by the appraiser they are assisting.Answers telephones.Assists taxpayers and other customers with property inquiries.Directs customer needs to the proper department.Analyzes data to ensure the information is correct.Completes address changes in Manatron.Processes agricultural applications and general inquiries. Conducts field inspections as necessary.Understands the policy and procedures of the Tax Assessor's office including South Carolina laws that govern the office.Assists the Appraisal department in locating mobile homes, measuring real property improvements, and gathering all information for the appraisal process through site visits.Conducts various tasks, including using a computer to assist appraisers in completing projects.Performs other duties and related work as instructed and assigned.Supervisory FunctionsThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsHigh School Diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Special Certifications and LicensesSouth Carolina driver's license.Reasoning Ability, Mathematical and Language SkillsAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and manage several abstract and concrete variables.Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
