A premier global law firm is seeking a Real Estate Tax Associate Attorney to join its Washington, DC office.
This opportunity is ideal for an attorney interested in representing real estate investment funds, REITs, developers, institutional investors, private equity sponsors, and high-net-worth clients on sophisticated real estate tax matters.
• 3–6 years of tax experience with a focus on real estate transactions gained at a sophisticated law firm
• Experience advising real estate developers, institutional investors, REITs, private equity sponsors, real estate funds, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals
• Experience structuring the tax aspects of commercial real estate acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, financings, developments, and restructurings
• Experience advising on partnership taxation, LLC taxation, REITs, like-kind exchanges, tax-deferred transactions, and real estate investment structures
• Experience supporting the tax aspects of private equity transactions, mergers & acquisitions, fund formations, and project finance transactions involving real estate assets
• Experience drafting and reviewing partnership agreements, operating agreements, tax provisions, and transaction documents from a tax perspective
• Strong knowledge of federal income tax principles applicable to real estate investments and partnerships
• Strong drafting, analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to independently manage sophisticated client matters while maintaining significant client interaction
• LL.M. in Taxation is a plus, but not required
• Excellent academic credentials
• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school required
• DC bar admission required or ability to become admitted
