Receiver - Baldor Specialty Foods

Overview:

The Receiver position is responsible for supporting all procedures and operations within the Receiving Department at Baldor Specialty Foods' Chelsea, MA location. This role ensures all incoming products are received, inspected, documented, and processed accurately while adhering to company operational procedures, food safety standards, SQF requirements, and workplace safety policies.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced food distribution environment and demonstrate strong attention to detail, urgency, and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Support all receiving functions within the Chelsea, MA Operations facility
  • Complete assigned Receiving Department duties accurately and efficiently
  • Maintain compliance with Baldor operational procedures and food safety standards
  • Work scheduled shifts based on operational needs, including overtime or additional days when required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect incoming products upon arrival from vendors and carriers
  • Verify product counts and ensure all purchase orders and receiving paperwork are accurate and compliant with company standards
  • Document shortages, overages, damages, expiration dates, product temperatures, trailer conditions, signs of pest infestation, and/or evidence of product tampering
  • Operate RF scanners and utilize basic computer systems to complete receiving processes
  • Maintain a strong sense of urgency while multitasking in a fast-paced warehouse environment
  • Follow all Receiving Department SOPs and operational procedures
  • Communicate receiving issues and operational concerns to the Receiving Supervisor
  • Immediately report any food safety, quality assurance, security, or safety concerns
  • Maintain open communication with supervisors to resolve receiving and inspection-related issues
  • Ensure all assigned tasks are completed within required timelines
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management

Food Safety & Safety Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all HACCP, SQF, GMP, and company food safety procedures
  • Follow all workplace safety standards and operational guidelines
  • Report accidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, or equipment concerns immediately to management

Qualifications:

  • Previous receiving experience preferred
  • Experience operating RF scanners required
  • Produce and food distribution knowledge preferred
  • Prior warehouse experience in a food production or food distribution environment preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to read, write, and follow instructions clearly
  • Must be available to work a full-time schedule based on operational needs
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, repetitively bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a cold warehouse environment (36°F - 38°F)

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred

Requirements & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of progressive HR experience, including experience as an HR Business Partner or HR leader supporting corporate or professional functions.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting multiple functional groups simultaneously (e.g., Sales, Finance, Operations, Technology).
  • Demonstrated expertise in job reorganization, organizational design, and job leveling.
  • Advanced employee relations experience, including investigations and high-risk matters.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to influence at the senior leadership level.
  • Ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred for workforce support.
  • SHRM certification a plus.
