Receiving Assistant -night shift

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Southwest Traders, Inc. is a full service distribution company delivering fresh, frozen, and dry products to national accounts, specialty ice cream & yogurt shops, juice & smoothie bars. SWT now has full distribution centers in CA, and yard locations in AZ and NV.

Fast paced Food Service Distributor is currently seeking an experienced Receiving Assistant for our Distribution Center. We are seeking experienced, dependable, organized, team player preferably with a background in food distribution.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for verifying and maintaining accurate records of incoming and outgoing shipments. The Receiver ensures all merchandise is properly inspected, documented, stored, and prepared for distribution while maintaining high standards of efficiency and accuracy.

Work environments may include dry, refrigerated (cooler), and frozen warehouse areas.

• Examine shipment contents and compare against manifests, invoices, and purchase orders to verify accuracy.
• Identify and document damaged goods, shortages, or discrepancies.
• Determine appropriate shipping methods using knowledge of routes and rates.
• Move materials using warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and hand trucks.
• Calculate storage, shipping, and related charges as necessary

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Inspect product quality and condition upon receipt.
• Accurately identify and distinguish between similar products.
• Move product to appropriate storage locations.
• Maintain familiarity with all warehouse product locations.
• Follow instructions from managers and supervisors accurately.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Experience in food service or food distribution environments highly preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated honesty, integrity, and accountability.
• Reliable and responsible work ethic.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changes.
• Must be capable of working in dry, cooler, and frozen environments.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of related experience.
• Familiarity with warehouse or inventory software systems.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Standard warehouse conditions apply. Long hours spent standing, walking, bending and lifting products. Operating industrial equipment such as electric pallet jacks and forklifts. Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. Exposure to extreme temperatures (warm, cold and frozen).

4/10 work schedule

8:00 PM-6:30 AM

Must be able to work Sunday
