SUMMARY

We are seeking a dedicated Receiving Clerk to join our Materials Management Department. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Receiving Clerk plays a vital role in the efficient operation of our hospital's supply chain management. This position is responsible for coordinating the shipping and receiving, storing and distribution of all supplies, equipment, and pharmaceuticals in the Hospital. The Receiving Clerk collaborates closely with various departments to ensure that inventory levels are maintained and that all items are properly recorded in the hospital's inventory management system

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receives hospital supplies according to established procedures.
  • Communicates with Purchasing concerning all deliveries on a daily basis.
  • Processes trucker's BOL, vendor's packing slips; notifies Purchasing or Storeroom Coordinator immediately regarding delivery discrepancies.
  • Keep departmental receivables of deliveries current.
  • Coordinates distribution of hospital supplies to proper departments, deliveries to ancillary departments using department codes including deliveries to nursing units per storeroom requisitions and department codes.
  • Coordinates general storeroom maintenance including stack rotation, removal of expired stocks and/or recall items, cleanliness and order of the main storeroom.
  • Maintains perpetual inventory accurately, assists in the distribution area in restocking of products.
  • Coordinates and assists in the distribution of the hospital mail and dispatching of outgoing mail.
  • Manages own time in a productive and reliable manner completing work assignments.
  • Completes appropriate volume of work while maintaining quality standards.
  • Organize work procedures to generate acceptable levels of productivity.
  • Completes own work as required and will assist others as needed.
  • Cooperates with coworkers and management to maintain a harmonious environment. Adjust work schedule to accommodate changing priorities.
  • Operates assigned equipment and performs all procedures in a safe manner. Utilizes proper body mechanics in all job functions.
  • Follows established emergency, infection control and/or universal precautions procedures as required.
  • Maintains work area and equipment according to standards and policies.
  • Attends mandatory in-service related to safety and/or infection control.
  • Supports and participates in department quality improvement activities.
  • Provides quality improvements which enhance effectiveness and efficiency of department.
  • Provides courteous service to internal/external customers in all activities.
  • Offers assistance to all internal/external customers as appropriate and/or refers customer to appropriate individual or department.
  • Communicates in a professional manner emphasizing objectively and non-judgmental viewpoints.
  • Assist in solving customer problems in a cooperative manner.
  • Other duties as assigned

COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understands and adheres to Loretto Hospital's compliance standards as they appear in the Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Six months or less related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have basic working knowledge of shipping and receiving principles.
  • Basic working knowledge of inventory control.
  • Basic working knowledge of mail procedures.
  • Must have good communication skills.
