Overview:

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION: 

Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor or designee, the Receiving/Delivery Coordinator receives, delivers, and transports parcels, mail, lab specimens, and freight among sites to support critical campus operations

Responsibilities:

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the receiving, delivering and transporting of parcels, mail (confidential material), lab specimens, pharmaceuticals, hazardous chemicals, biohazardous material, radioactive materials, scientific supplies, perishables and freight.
  • Deliveries of non-stock items for the hospital
  • From time to time deliver pallets and other material in support of other departments
  • Recognize hazardous and perishable materials for proper handling and storage
  • Ensure parcels are properly inspected and inventoried before delivery
  • Open, inventory, and enter non-stock clinical items received into the clinical in-bound tracking software prior to delivery
  • Responsible for accurate counts and delivery
  • Develop and maintain a functional understanding of electronic documentation requirements for proof of receipt and delivery, including the use of electronic proof of delivery and in-bound tracking software.
  • Look up insufficiently addressed parcels and deliver to the appropriate site/location
  • Prepare outgoing shipments
  • Courier parcels, mail, lab specimens, hazardous chemicals, biohazardous material, scientific supplies, confidential material, and freight in UMass Chan vehicles between buildings and sites
  • Transportation of passengers in UMass Chan vehicles between buildings and other locations.
  • Maintain vehicles. Refuel and inspect as needed
  • Develop understanding of OSHA guidelines and University policies
  • Assists in work site orientation and training for new employees
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent experience
  • 3 years of experience in receiving and transportation of goods
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Proven ability to follow oral and written instructions, and perform basic arithmetic calculations
  • Physical ability to handle bulky and heavy stock items, equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs, and be able to walk long distances
  • Verbal ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to perform manual and clerical tasks of some complexity according to a routine and organized procedure, such as PO lookups and delivering in an orderly fashion
  • Working knowledge of electronic manifest systems preferred. Proof of delivery (POD) experience preferred
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Ability to travel to off- site locations
