Job Title: Receiving Forklift Operator
Location: Indianapolis, IN 46219
Job Type: Contract (4+ Months)
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (40 Hours/Week)
 
Job Summary:
  • We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Receiving Forklift Operator to support warehouse operations by receiving, inspecting, storing, and distributing materials. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate inventory transactions, processing inbound and outbound shipments, operating material handling equipment, and maintaining inventory accuracy while following all safety and quality standards.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive, inspect, verify, and process incoming materials and shipments.
  • Enter receiving transactions into the inventory/materials management system.
  • Compare received materials with shipping documentation and report discrepancies.
  • Prepare and process outbound shipments, including shipping documentation.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely.
  • Store inventory in designated locations while maintaining proper stock rotation (FIFO).
  • Identify and report short-dated or damaged materials.
  • Support returned goods processing according to company procedures.
  • Deliver materials to designated staging areas and departments.
  • Assist with order picking, packing, shipping, and internal deliveries.
  • Participate in cycle counts and physical inventory activities.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and warehouse records.
  • Assist with mail distribution and record storage when needed.
  • Follow all company safety, quality, OSHA, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance warehouse efficiency.
  • Perform other warehouse duties as assigned.
 
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 6 months of warehouse or materials management experience.
  • Previous receiving and inventory experience preferred.
  • Basic data entry and computer skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and warehouse inventory systems.
  • Experience using barcode scanners and warehouse equipment preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Good communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
 
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and move up to 70 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform warehouse activities throughout the shift.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
 
Preferred Skills:
  • Forklift operating experience.
  • Inventory control and cycle counting experience.
  • Shipping and receiving knowledge.
  • Strong record-keeping and documentation skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Reliable attendance and commitment to workplace safety.
 
Work Environment:
