Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a Receiving Specialist for our client, a manufacturing company in the North Portland area. In this role, you will verify and maintain records on incoming shipments and ensure materials are properly received, inspected, and routed in accordance with the company's operating requirements. This is a great opportunity for a candidate with receiving experience to take on a hands-on role with the potential to grow into a lead position.
Duties & Responsibilities
Verify incoming shipments by comparing counts, weights, or measurements against bills of lading, invoices, and orders
Unpack and inspect incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and coordinate with shippers to resolve discrepancies; route items to the correct department
Maintain inventory of receiving materials and supplies
Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other lifting equipment to unload and move materials
Lift heavy objects by hand (up to 75 lbs) with or without assistance
Return tools and equipment to their proper station and maintain a clean, organized work area at the end of each shift
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred; equivalent manufacturing experience accepted in lieu of education
2+ years of direct experience in receiving, or a combination of experience and training
Forklift Experience: Must obtain and maintain a current forklift operator's license through the company
Demonstrated ability to meet quotas, solve problems, train others, and use standard receiving instruments
Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, production packets, safety information, and manufacturing data; ability to record accurate, legible production data
Ability to work independently, take on a lead role when needed, and solve practical problems in variable work situations
If selected, ability to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check

Mon-Thurs 6am-4:30pm
Starting Pay
$21/hr
Work Environment
Primarily indoor, with some outdoor work required during unloading/receiving preparation
Noise level is typically loud; ear plugs required
Hazards may include arc flash, sharps, and chemical exposure
Safety glasses required in all areas due to potential eye injury risk
Environment may include dust, fumes, mists, vapors, and/or welding fumes; respirators may be recommended or required
Sturdy, steel-toed leather boots covering the ankle are required due to potential foot injury risk
