Treasure Coast Community Health (TCCH), a long-established and highly respected healthcare provider and Federally Qualified Health Center with locations throughout Indian River County, FL is seeking a Receptionist/Front Desk - Medical to join our team.

The candidate will provide excellent customer service to all patients that call or visit our centers. The Receptionist will operate a multi-line telephone system to answer incoming calls and directs callers to appropriate personnel by performing the following duties as well as utilize TCCH electronic systems to schedule/reschedule medical and, or dental patients and update patient information. The receptionist will also verify insurances as applicable prior to appointments and check in/out visiting patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Unlocks and opens front door admitting patients into waiting room on or before clinic operating hours.
  • Coordinates all clinical telephone communications in the practice, including answering all incoming calls in a courteous and efficient manner, responds to incoming patient account telephone inquiries as well as verifies Medipass and Third Party Insurance authorizations, Medicare and all private insurances.
  • Checks insurance for patients when needed.
  • Assists in patient account activities including, collecting and/pre collecting and/or updating patient data. Performs cashier functions and performs cash drawer reconciliation daily.
  • Informs patients of balances, transfers to proper department, verifies and informs patient about sliding scale.
  • Requests supplies as necessary to keep adequate inventory of materials on hand for practice operations. Provides accurate information for any questions about organization.
  • Communicates effectively and appropriately to Site Manager, practice physician, etc. to promote the smooth running of practice affairs.
  • Attends mandatory and other education conferences that are job related. Acquire input from others in the department for notes prior to team meetings.
  • Helps patients with directions and coordinates the office patient flow from waiting area to the examination and treatment area to ensure patients are seen in a timely manner, to include scheduling and rescheduling of appointments over the phone, in person and walk in patients; per the published scheduling parameters. Prepares and posts appointment schedules for all to see on a daily basis.
  • Provides patient support as necessary, including assisting with patient translation, patient sliding scale and registration forms when required. Maintains confidentiality of all patient information. Putting patients at ease by discussing care options at TCCH.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and orderly work area at all times.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent is required. One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.

Bilingual English/Spanish candidates are given top consideration.
