    Asheville JCC

    Reports To: Jewish Engagement Director
    Classification: Part-time or Full-time options, Hourly / Non-Exempt
    Pay Rate: $16.00/hour
     
    Position Summary
    The Front Desk position is the welcoming face of the Asheville JCC and often the first point of contact for members, guests, prospective members, and community members. We are seeking a friendly, dependable, attentive, and proactive individual who enjoys helping others and creating a positive experience for everyone who enters our building. The ideal candidate provides excellent customer service, exercises good judgement, communicates effectively, and remains engaged and productive throughout the workday. This position combines front desk operations, member and guest support, safety & security expectations, and administrative responsibilities.

    Primary Responsibilities
    Member & Guest Experience
    Greet and acknowledge members, guests, and visitors warmly and promptly. 
    Answer questions and connect individuals with the appropriate programs, services, and staff.
    Provide information about JCC programs, services, events, and Jewish Asheville resources.
    Respond to questions and concerns with patience, professionalism, and follow-through.
     
    Front Desk Operations
    Answer incoming calls promptly and professionally and route messages appropriately.
    Monitor the front entrance and follow all JCC security, visitor, and sign-in procedures.
    Process payments for point-of-sale items.
    Sort and distribute incoming mail.
    Maintain accurate records and complete routine administrative tasks.
    Take leadership of one special project, such as Challah Club, Shuk/Gift Shop, Welcome Shabbat cards, etc. 
     
    Reception Area & Building Presence
    Keep the front desk and lobby clean, organized, welcoming, and professional.
    Keep informational materials and bulletin boards current and remove outdated materials.
    Monitor the reception area and take initiative to address routine needs as they arise. 
    Required Skills & Qualifications
    Excellent customer service and communication skills.
    Warm, friendly, and professional demeanor.
    Dependable, punctual, organized, and attentive to detail.
    Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and work independently.
    Strong problem-solving skills and follow-through.
    Ability to handle confidential information and financial transactions responsibly.
    Ability to learn and use the JCC's membership database and other technology.
    Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, reception, administration, or a nonprofit setting preferred. 
    Knowledge of, or interest in Jewish culture, values, and traditions is a plus, but not required. 
    High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
    Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
