Receptionist-PACU

We are hiring a Receptionist to work in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This position assists with customer service responsibilities at University Campus of Fairview University Medical Center by assisting visitors, family members, staff and patients at the information desk.

The receptionist also answers and directs callers and visitors to the patient rooms or other areas of the hospital.

Schedule:

This position works a 0.6FTE (48 hours per 2 week pay period) on day and evening shifts, Monday through Friday. 
The position works a two week pattern of alternating start times:
Week 1: 5:30am-14:00pm
Week 2: 12:30pm-21:00pm

Responsibilities:

• Promotes excellent customer service by answering patient information telephone calls, responding to visitor questions and directing people to various areas around the hospital campus.
• Respects and maintains patient confidentiality in regards to release of information requests by patients
• Communicates appropriate information with others according to established procedures so that day-to-day operations are effectively conducted
• Exhibits excellent customer service with patients, visitors, physicians, co-workers, community and referral sources
• Demonstrates knowledge of safety-related work behaviors to ensure safe job performance and the maintenance of a safe work environment as an integral part of the quality of patient care services.
• Knowledge and understanding of disaster emergency preparedness plans and codes to be able to provide immediate direction to patients, visitors etc.
• Knowledge of the Code procedures to alert for Code Blue/Red response.
• Meets all role-related and age-specific competencies.

Required Qualifications:

• Previous experience in customer service.
• Pleasant and cheerful disposition, able to interact with the public and provide excellent customer service.
• Able to work in the time assigned.
• Able to empathize with families in stressful situations.
• Respectful and comfortable working with people of diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Six months' experience in a health care setting.

$21.96- $23.55 Hourly
