We are representing a well-established restoration contractor in the Los Angeles market seeking a Reconstruction Estimator with proven experience in both commercial and residential rebuild projects post mitigation.
This role is responsible for accurately scoping, estimating, and securing reconstruction work following fire, water, and property loss events. The ideal candidate understands insurance-driven workflows, communicates effectively with adjusters and property stakeholders, and can confidently build estimates using Xactimate and Time & Materials (T&M) methodologies.
This is not an entry-level role. We are seeking a professional with stable tenure and a track record of delivering accurate, defensible estimates that convert into profitable projects.
Conduct on-site inspections for residential and commercial reconstruction projects
Develop detailed, line-item estimates using Xactimate
Build and manage T&M estimates where appropriate
Collaborate with project managers, operations teams, and subcontractors to ensure scope alignment
Review adjuster feedback and revise estimates as needed
Negotiate scope and pricing with carriers and third-party administrators
Ensure all estimates are complete, defensible, and aligned with company margin targets
Support job costing and change order documentation
Maintain clear documentation within project management system
Experience in restoration-related reconstruction (fire, water, storm)
Familiarity with Los Angeles permitting and local market pricing
Knowledge of job costing and margin control
Accurate, defensible estimates that convert efficiently
Strong adjuster relationships
Minimal estimate revisions due to scope errors
Projects meeting or exceeding margin targets
Clear documentation that supports smooth project execution
Proficient in Xactimate (advanced level preferred)
Strong working knowledge of T&M estimating
Experience navigating insurance claim environments
Stable work history with strong professional tenure
Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and sequencing
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Base Salary: $85,000 – $100,000 (DOE)
