Reconstruction Manager - Property Restoration

About the Role

We are a growing emergency property restoration company on Long Island helping homeowners and businesses recover after water, fire, storm, and other property losses.

The Rebuild Manager is a critical customer-facing role that bridges the gap between initial mitigation and full reconstruction. You will begin working with the customer while mitigation is still underway and serve as their dedicated point of contact throughout the entire rebuild process.

This position requires expert-level Xactimate skills, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to guide customers through material selections while coordinating crews to deliver high-quality, on-time, and on-budget results.

Key Responsibilities

• Build trust and begin the rebuild planning process with customers while mitigation is still in progress, ensuring a seamless transition from emergency services to reconstruction.
• Serve as the direct point of contact for all customer questions, concerns, and decisions related to the rebuild scope, timeline, and finishes.
• Create accurate, detailed scopes of work and estimates using Xactimate (expert proficiency required).
• Guide customers through material and finish selections, including cabinets, countertops, flooring, paint colors, fixtures, appliances, and other upgrades. Help them understand insurance allowances versus upgrade options.
• Coordinate daily with field crews, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure work is completed according to scope, schedule, and quality standards.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, change orders, and all necessary documentation for insurance carriers and adjusters.
• Conduct regular site visits, progress walkthroughs, and final customer sign-offs.
• Maintain high customer satisfaction by providing clear communication, empathy, and proactive problem-solving throughout the stressful claims and rebuild process.
• Collaborate closely with the mitigation team to align scopes and avoid delays between phases.
• Oversee quality control and ensure all work meets or exceeds industry and company standards.

Requirements

• Expert-level proficiency in Xactimate. This is required. Candidates will be asked to demonstrate during the interview process.
• 3 to 5+ years of experience in insurance restoration, reconstruction, or construction project management (restoration industry experience strongly preferred).
• Strong knowledge of residential and light commercial construction practices, building codes, and the Long Island/NY market.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to empathize with customers who have experienced property loss.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple active projects simultaneously.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management/estimating software.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (must be able to travel throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties).
• IICRC certifications (WRT, ASD, or others) are a plus.
• Experience working directly with insurance adjusters and handling insurance-funded rebuilds is highly desirable.
