Position Summary

We are currently seeking a Records Management Specialist (Mid-Level) to support a federal client in Washington, DC. This role focuses on managing records lifecycle processes, supporting Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, and ensuring compliance with federal records management and data governance requirements. The ideal candidate combines strong knowledge of federal records policies with hands-on experience using modern collaboration and CRM platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of records, including creation, maintenance, retention, and disposition in accordance with federal guidelines
- Process and support FOIA requests, including document retrieval, review coordination, and response tracking
- Maintain and organize records within platforms such as SharePoint and other enterprise content management systems
- Support data governance initiatives, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and compliance of records and information
- Generate reports and dashboards to track FOIA requests, records status, and compliance metrics
- Collaborate with legal, compliance, and programming teams to ensure adherence to federal records management policies
- Assist in developing and maintaining records management procedures and workflows
- Support system improvements and integrations across records management and CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce)
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations and agency-specific records retention schedules
- Provide user support and training on records management systems and processes
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in a closely related field is preferred; A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Three plus (3+) years of experience in records management, FOIA processing, or data governance; preferably within a federal agency
- Experience supporting federal records management programs and compliance workflows
- Hands-on experience with:
- SharePoint and Microsoft 365 environments
- Salesforce or similar CRM platforms
- Reporting and data tracking tools
- Familiarity with FOIA processes, requirements, and timelines
- Understanding of federal records retention policies and compliance standards
- Strong organizational, analytical, and documentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with scripting or automation (e.g., PowerShell)
- Advanced CRM experience, including workflow configuration or reporting
- Familiarity with electronic records management systems (ERMS)
- Experience supporting audits, compliance reviews, or legal discovery processes
Work Environment & Schedule
- Full-time, on-site role based in Washington DC.
- Travel may be required based on project and stakeholder needs.
