About the position

This position is Non-appropriated Fund NAF and will be assigned to the Beale Pools Beale AFB CA. This is a temporary position not to exceed November 1, 2026. This position is flexible, no guaranteed hours, and does not receive benefits. During announcement, applications will be pulled and reviewed for consideration every 1st and 15th of the month.

Duties

Observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area. Rescues swimmers in trouble promptly administers first aid and calls for medical assistance if and when needed. Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail. May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, and pool decks.

Requirements

Conditions of employment This position requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. The position requires the following certifications:

  • American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer
  • American Red Cross Basic First-Aid
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Training This position requires practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules, and procedures as well as pool safety and pool maintenance requirements. This is a temporary position not to exceed 1-Nov-2026. Qualifications Who May Apply Open to everyone. Applicants will be categorized by preferences and/or priority consideration eligibilities. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs, e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, and other organizations, e.g., professional philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience Practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules, and procedures, and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable. Must be able to obtain or possess certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills as well as basic first aid training and CPR, both child and adult training.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. Individual must fully meet qualification eligibility background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three 3 or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installations decision on the 3-year residency requirement. A probationary period may be required. Pre-employment requirements must be satisfactorily met prior to Entrance on Duty EOD. Payment of Permanent Change of Station PCS costs is not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Governments interest.
