Duties Help Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at a scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area. Maintains order and enforces established rules of safety and behavior. Rescues swimmers in trouble, administers first aid and calls for medical assistance if and when needed. Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail. May operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards. Ensures that diving boards, slides and any specialty equipment are inspected frequently for cracks, loose matting or hardware and necessary repair are made. Collects admission fees, make change and complete appropriate forms. Assists in teaching swimming lessons and may assist in demonstrating basic swim strokes. Advise instructor concerning student progress/problems. May performs other related or incidental duties assigned for the daily operations. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements Help Conditions of employment This position requires satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with Air Force DoD policy and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation. This position requires the incumbent to obtain an approved and current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills as well as basic first aid training and CPR both child and adult training. This position requires the incumbent be of legal age to be employed at a Non-Appropriated Fund position which is 16 years old.

In order to qualify you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. If the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience Must have experience which provides a practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules and procedures. Skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable. Must be able to work an uncommon tour of duty to include nights, weekends and holidays. Must be able to obtain an approved and current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills as well as basic training and CPR both child and adult training. Must be at least 16 years of age.

Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

Additional information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installations decision on the 3-year residency requirement. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Direct deposit is required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check. A probationary period may be required. Pre-employment requirements must be satisfactorily met prior to Entrance on Duty (EOD).
