Duties

Help

The purpose of this position is to support the day to day operation of the fitness center. Serves as the desk attendant ensuring only authorized patrons use the facility and equipment and adhere to fitness center policy. Greets visitors, answers telephones, and makes reservations for classes or use of equipment and facilities. Provides information on scheduled events and classes. Provides assistance and basic instruction to patrons in the proper use of exercise machines and equipment. Circulates among patrons to ensure customer satisfaction and safe and proper use of equipment. Issues sports equipment and completes required documentation for transaction. Inspects returned equipment noting damages. Inspects all equipment and facilities according to established standards and local fire and safety procedures. Reports damaged exercise equipment to supervisor. Performs opening and closing procedures of facilities IA W written guidelines. Performs minor repairs, adjustments and regular cleaning on equipment and facility. Maintains and prepares fitness center facilities, grounds and equipment for daily use, programs and special functions. Launders towels and upholds towel exchange program. Performs receiving and dispersing cashier duties. Takes cash, check, credit card, coupons etc. Prepares and issues change. Ensures all monies are accounted for and reports discrepancies to supervisor as soon as possible. Drives a government vehicle such as golf carts, light truck, sedan, gator or similar vehicle. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position has physical requirements which require the incumbent to complete a pre-employment physical. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and 100 lbs with assistance.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing drug use. Must have a valid drivers license.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • Must possess a current CPR or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and first aid certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • The applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or a Legal U.S. Resident for a minimum of 3 years and must reside in/around the area as noted in the Job Opportunity Announcement.

Qualifying Experience:

This is an entry level position, no experience required. Experience in clerical, office, cash handling or retail sales is desired.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

1) Knowledge in clerical, office, cash handling or retail sales.

2.Ability to receiving and dispersing cashier duties.

Please join our team in sunny San Antonio, TX. Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) is situated in San Antonio (Bexar County), the seventh largest city and known as "Military City USA." Encompassing JBSA are Fort Sam Houston, Lackland AFB, and Randolph AFB, three separate installations.

The mission of Fort Sam Houston, located northeast of downtown, is medical training and support and is home to San Antonio Military Medical Center.

The primary mission at Lackland AFB, located southwest of the city, is training: basic military, technical, English language, and technical training in Spanish to allied countries.
