Recreation Aides works alongside Recreation Leaders to provide a safe, engaging, and positive environment for elementary-aged children at Piedmont's three elementary schools.This is a great opportunity to gain valuable work experience, develop leadership skills, build your resume, and make a difference in the lives of children.About the PositionRecreation Aides assist with daily after-school programming, including games, arts and crafts, sports, enrichment activities, special events, and playground supervision.Successful candidates enjoy working with children, demonstrating responsibility and professionalism, and bring positive energy to every shift.Our Ideal Candidates Are:ProfessionalCommunicate respectfully with children, families, and coworkersDemonstrate maturity and good judgmentResponsiblePrioritize participant safety and well-beingFollow directions and complete assigned tasksEnergetic & EnthusiasticEnjoy being active and engaging with childrenBring creativity, positivity, and a team-first attitudeInterested in Working with YouthPrevious volunteering, babysitting, tutoring, coaching, or leadership experience is helpful but not requiredWhat You'll DoAssist with games, sports, arts and crafts, and enrichment activitiesSupport participant supervision and engagementModel positive behavior and assist with conflict resolutionPromote a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environmentHelp children safely use playground equipment, supplies, and materialsAssist with special events and program activitiesMaintain clean and organized program spacesCommunicate concerns regarding participant safety or behavior to supervising staffPerform other duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsMust be currently enrolled in high schoolMust be at least 15 years of age at the time of applicationMust have completed 9th gradeAbility to work a minimum of two afternoons per weekAbility to work collaboratively with staff and childrenEnthusiasm for recreation, youth development, and teamworkWork Permit RequirementsApplicants under 18 years of age must obtain and maintain a valid work permit throughout employment.ScheduleTypical after-school shifts occur Monday–Friday and range from approximately 2–4 hours per day, between 2:00-6:00 PM.
