Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 209.

Job Summary

The Recreation and Intramural Sports Program Coordinator supports the daily operations of Albany State University campus recreation facilities, equipment, and intramural sports programming. This role coordinates student staff scheduling and training, ensures consistent professional supervision during programs and events, and assists in planning, implementing, and evaluating recreational services that support the universitys students, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees day-to-day operations of the game room, including equipment check-out, use, and maintenance during all hours of operation.
  • Develops student staff work schedules to ensure consistent professional coverage for all programs and events, including evening games and weekend activities.
  • Provides on-site professional supervision during intramural sports activities to ensure participant safety and program quality.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for programs, equipment management, and patron services and relations.
  • Recruits, trains, and schedules student employees, and supervises their performance and compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assists with the planning and management of summer camps and programs, annual leadership development training, and new student orientation initiatives.
  • Evaluates and assesses programs and services to ensure they meet departmental standards and student needs, recommending improvements as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree
  • 1-3 years of related experience in campus recreation, intramural sports, or a related setting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Recreation, Sport Management, Kinesiology, Higher Education, or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Experience working in a collegiate campus recreation department
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA)-affiliated certification
  • Demonstrated experience training, supervising, or evaluating student employees
  • Experience with program assessment and outcomes-based evaluation

Proposed Salary

Salary commensurate with education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of intramural sports program planning, equipment management, and risk management practices.
  • Skill in developing staff schedules, resolving conflicts, and communicating effectively with students, staff, and patrons.
  • Ability to supervise and train student staff, plan and evaluate recreational programs, exercise sound judgment during emergencies, and work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
