    Recreation Assistant

    Trinity Health PACE New Jersey

    Full Time

    Monday - Friday 8-4:30

    Are you passionate about enriching the lives of older adults and creating meaningful experiences for participants? Trinity Health PACE is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and creative Recreation Assistant to support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of therapeutic recreational activities that enhance the quality of life for our participants.

    In this role, you will help develop and facilitate engaging group and individual activities designed to support participants' cognitive, physical, social, psychosocial, and creative well-being. Working closely with the interdisciplinary team, you will assist in creating individualized activity plans based on participant assessments and care plans while promoting socialization, lifelong learning, physical activity, and personal interests.

    Key responsibilities include planning and implementing dementia-focused programming, coordinating recreational activities, assisting with monthly activity calendars, developing quarterly newsletters for participants and caregivers, monitoring recreational supplies and equipment, and maintaining collaborative relationships with colleagues across departments. You will also contribute to participant care planning and support educational initiatives for staff when appropriate.

Success in this role requires strong communication skills, adaptability, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, participant-centered environment.

    Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
    • Minimum of one year of experience working with a frail or elderly population, or willingness to complete required training upon hire.
    • Education or training in geriatrics, including dementia care, preferred.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (ASL proficiency welcomed).
    • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and relationship-building abilities.
    • Ability to adapt to change, manage conflict effectively, and maintain a positive team-oriented approach.
    • For North Carolina candidates, an Employee Medical Statement meeting state requirements is required prior to employment.
