Help
Assists management in the day-to-day operations of the Kadena Marinas scuba rental section to include the development of daily task lists based on business needs, and evaluating work progress and results. Insures that the Marinas scuba rental equipment is maintained in serviceable condition and updates all maintenance records and parts inventories according to guidelines. Ensures that scuba compressors are operational and receive required maintenance. Ensures that all employees are trained in all section operating procedures and in compliance with safety, fire prevention, and hazardous material handling, enforcing proper equipment usage, requirements, and limitations. Identifies to management problem areas and trends in employee management and daily work practices. Assigns and monitors sections work order schedule and insures that instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines are met. Rents scuba equipment to certified and authorized customers. Receives returned equipment and visually inspects for damage. Fills scuba cylinders, ensuring that set compressed gas standards are followed. Collects and safeguards fees received from customers. Prepares cashiers reports. Responsible for the overall appearance of the rental area and air station. Constantly required to be outdoors and will be exposed to hot and humid weather. Serves as the Vehicle Control Officer (VCO) for the Marina ensuring that all facility vehicles meet scheduled maintenance appointments, that Form I 800s are accomplished and that vehicles are kept presentable. Will be a NAF Purchase Card holder. Performs other duties as assigned.

The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is US Citizens and legal US residents in Okinawa, Japan. Legal US residents must possess a social security number and be citizens of a NATO country. Must be able to provide documentation proving residence status overseas.
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Must be 18 years of age or older. Must possess professional experience working in a scuba operation, with demonstrated knowledge of the principles, safety standards, and regulations applicable to scuba and high-pressure air station operations. Must hold a Scuba Open Water Certification (or higher) from a recognized agency for a minimum of six (6) months. Must be able to obtain certification as a Tank Visual Inspector (TVI) within 180 days of hire. Must be able to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds (such as scuba cylinders and gear) and work outdoors in hot, humid weather conditions. Must have a valid SOFA license.
Successful completion and favorable adjudication of a Tier 1 Level background investigation is required. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. This is a drug testing designated position (TDP). The incumbent must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and will be subject to random drug testing thereafter. Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays to support facility operations as needed.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.
