POSITION: Recreation Associate II DUTIES: Observes, engages with the community; and provides outstanding, friendly customer services while supporting programming and appropriate use of the Cortez Recreation Center facilities and equipment. Facilitates use of the Cortez Recreation Center by setting up, breaking down, cleaning, and coordinating the use of the center and its facilities including meeting rooms, hallways, lobbies, entryway, gymnasium, racquetball courts, fitness center area, locker rooms, restrooms, and other work as assigned. Makes regular checks of locker rooms and restrooms to help prevent theft and vandalism, as well as perform any duties to assure cleanliness. Assists with Front Desk operations by answering the telephone and by providing general information. Recreation Associates II also operate the registration/reservation software selling passes, daily visits, merchandise, and reserving rooms and other reservations. May occasionally be responsible for cash balancing. Assists with facility operation and cleanliness including opening and closing the building, inspecting facilities, removing snow during winter months from walkways and all entrances, emptying trash inside Recreation Center, and picking up trash from around the building. Assists with incident management by providing basic first aid, securing parts of the building, guiding pedestrian flow in, out and through the building, writing reports, and following directions from senior staff. Performs duties as assigned. Able to lift and move 50-100+lbs, lift and move spin bikes, tables, and chairs repetitively. Able to learn how to operate facilities within the Recreation Center including fitness equipment, rock wall auto-belays, the gymnasium divider screen, and how to set up and use various sports equipment. Ability to assist in general building maintenance. REQUIREMENTS: Ability to acquire First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 90 days of employment. Have a high school graduate or equivalent. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 16 and older to apply. Able to provide outstanding customer service, be friendly and helpful. Be safety-minded and willing to address unsafe situations, reacting promptly.
